In 2006, I gave a tough review of a web series titled "Sam Has 7 Friends" by a small startup called "Big Fantastic". The four partners of Big Fantastic pulled together some funds, and pulled up their bootstraps, shooting 80 episodes to play on the web in 90 second pieces. Completely innovative. The series was by all accounts a hit, and I was wrong. The startup caught notices from major players in Hollywood including Michael Eisner, Warner Bros, and UTA.
The company has grown and since it's start it's produced over 400 episodes and 90 million views, a feat most television shows rarely achieve.
If you're looking at the future of television and web programming this innovative business model works. Big Fantastic is one to keep an eye on.
Enjoy their 2011 Reel...
